Be Afraid

I'm scrounging like mad crazy to get tickets to the Arctic Monkeys gig at Kool Haus. Apparently, I have no luck in my life as they are all sold out and ticketmaster presents me with the hardest captchas in existence. So for now, I will just dream up outfits to wear, in a desperate hope that I somehow get the chance to go.

Happy Birthday Woodstock

I have long come to the conclusion that I am not one of those people who pride themselves on marathon shopping, and being able to lounge in stores, carefully picking out new clothes. On the contrary, I loathe stores like H&M only because it takes me three hours to find a plain white tshirt.
However, it must have been my lucky day because yesterday I managed to pick up two new things. And it would have been 2+ had I not been able to contain myself. Leather jacket with the studded lapels, I am soooo eyeing you. So being the attention whore that I am, I have to pimp out my new wares on le blog : Black skinny jeans and a psychedelic shirt to pay homage to Woodstock's 40th birthday. Pretty groovy, if i do say so myself ...

AVANT GARDE

For Fall/Winter 2009 I'm looking to make my wardrobe much more darker and sinister than it has been in the past. And this time, I know who I'll turn to to help me out. The recent revival of the eighties has introduced more leather and studs to runway collections than ever before, but I find it more interesting when designers put a fresh, modern take on the decades past. Rad Hourani is an emerging Canadian designer (based in New York and Paris) who has released three collections, each gaining buzz in the elite fashion crowd. The former stylist from Montreal launched his unisex line three years ago. "I want to design clothes that can be worn anywhere , by anyone, any time". Its true that his clothes are street ready, with monochromatic collections of grey black and blue, and the architectural layering screams New York.
There's something about the way that Hourani combines leather, rips and combat boots that hints back at the 80's decade of hard rock and metal, but his intricate layering techniques and minimalist approach make him one of the most progressive designers to show in New York Fashion Week.

A quick history behind the blog name. It was something else entirely a couple of minutes ago, but I realized anything with 'miss' in the url was not so much me. I love you more than being seventeen. Do you know where its from? If yes, good for you. If no, shame .... on you. I just turned seventeen and its the first birthday where I actually like the age. So this will be a blog for the upcoming year, hoping its a good one.
